Volunteers planting the Tiny Forest at Wilmslow High School

Wow! We have had the most amazing two weeks and have so much to celebrate! Come along to our Transition Wilmslow Monthly Meeting and AGM on Thursday, 16 February, 7.15pm for a 7.30 start at the Quaker Meeting House, Bourne Street and hear all about it! This month we have planted a Tiny Forest at the High School, seen the start of the latest phase of restoration on Lindow Moss, had a fantastic workshop at The Guild and out on the Moss (“Window on Lindow”), put up our new polytunnel at our Oakenclough Community Market Garden and pruned the trees in our Meriton Park Orchard…..AND….we have achieved Charitable Status which will allow us to do so much more!

Our meeting will include a brief AGM, with Chair’s and Treasurer’s reports, and will be followed by our Guest Speaker, Cllr Craig Browne, Deputy Leader of Cheshire East Council. Craig will be talking about Cheshire East Council and it’s work on our behalf, and is happy to take questions on the environment and climate change. Do come along and join the discussion.

If you can’t make the meeting but would like to be more involved in Transition Wilmslow we would love to hear from you. Perhaps you would like to register your interest in becoming a Trustee of our new charity in the future, help with grant applications or looking after our accounts? or become more involved in one of our groups?

March 4th is our next Repair café at the URC (10-1, last repair in at 12.30). Would you like to be one of our expert repairers? Could you help in the café or donate a homemade cake or biscuits? Email repaircafewilmslow@gmail.com. Wilmslow Town Council is organising an event on Sunday 7th May and is inviting local groups to have a stall to publicise their work and hopefully get more volunteers. Could you help with one or more stalls on that day? Monday 8th May is “The Big Help Out” and we will be encouraging people to come along and help at Oakenclough. Let us know if there are any groups you know who would like to give a hand, or if you would like more details. We look forward to seeing you on Thursday. There will be cake! Best wishes from the Transition Wilmslow Team.
